Summer Scheduling
It is time to schedule for Summer!
Please complete the survey here or fill out a form at the Music House with your preferred time slots. If you have a first, second and third choice please indicate them. As always, I schedule on a first come, first serve basis. Also, if you would like to get the early bird semester discount you can do so here or let me know if you would like me to send an invoice.
Before the shutdown I normally had a wait list of about 25 people. It took a little while, but I have a wait list building up again (for after school time slots) What this means is that I have to be more adamant about summer lessons.
It is very important to keep your lessons and practice going through the summer. Stopping lessons for 3 months makes it really hard to keep up a practice routine, which often means that September is frustrating for students as they try to get back to where they were in May. I have noticed that as the end of the school year approaches everyone is feeling exhausted by their busy schedules and this sometimes makes it feel like it would be nice to take the summer off. My goal is for everyone to want to play music for the rest of their lives, so playing in the summer should be a good, fun, interesting thing to do with some of your time. If that doesn't feel like the case, we should talk a little bit about your lessons and see if we need to change the direction, pace, goals, etc.
I know schedules are more sporadic, so it is fine to do a different time every week and to do make up lessons for vacations, camps, etc. I still have some online students in other states, so I also have my Zoom classroom that we can use if need be. Basically I'm saying that I love being able to be super flexible in the summer!
My policy has been that all summer students get to schedule first for the school year. Now that there is a waiting list, this will most likely mean that if you don’t take summer lessons you won't get a time slot for the school year. I hate to have to do that, but it's not fair to someone who takes summer lessons to not have a spot in the fall.
I also have a lot more in store for the summer including workshops, camps, group classes and performances that I am excited about for the music and art house!
